Now Disney SHOULD have put that in the movie. Seriously when I first saw this movie ( and mind you I am no prude and was 27 at the time) I remember thinking, THIS is a Disney movie?? It should be rated PG! A Disney villain COPS A FEEL ON THE HEROINE? You've got to be kidding. And the Hellfire sequence...my favorite villain song of all time. Oh what the hell...Frollo is my favorite Disney villain. And even if you didn't like him or the movie you have to admit...the guy had issues up the wazoo,
Thanks for the comment He is my favourite Disney villain too. And first that I saw the movie I was 21 or something. No idea how kids supposed to understand whats going on with Frollo in that movie lol. And yeah that song is great!
Well, I clearly remember a couple things when I was in the theatre watching the movie. When I first saw it I admit I thought, this is just not Disney enough. And then I went to see it a second time. And like, twelve more times. What I do remember is that everyone seemed stunned by the Hellfire sequence in the audience, and that little kids didn't understand the lust concept. In fact, they wanted to know ( one kid next to me kept asking her mother why was 'the bad man' doing what he did."
That being said, one young boy understood it completely and I had to laugh out loud when he said to his father, " Hey Dad, does that guy Frollo want to DO that gypsy dancer, is that why he's , like, all crazy and stuff?"
I went personally crazy and had a whole spare bedroom themed with HoND and collectibles.
I heard the French Canadian musical was really good.
The Frollo I actually believed was closest to the movie version was the 1939 Charles Laughton one. I forgot which ( oh now I do remember LOL)...it was Sir Cedric Hardwick. He was a great Frollo. I'm sure that they may have used him for an inspiration to the character in Disney. And I rather liked that the Disney Frollo was a very powerful judge rather than a priest, although that would have been more 'taboo'. Still, Frollo as judge was puritanical and priestlike.
this is oddly mesmerizing :3 great work with the editing! After listening to "Hellfire" a million times over and seeing this pic, I cant help but ship these two. I always thought Frollo had a burning desire for Esmerelda, hehehe
Admittedly, after seeing Hunchback of Notre Dame again for the first time in years, thought it was almost a little kinky imagining what would have happened if Esmeralda had given herself up to Frollo (*teehee*)...that and I'm kind of a slight biased nerd-fan of the late Tony Jay (aka the voice of Frollo) :3
